Description
The Epic 82X scuba diving regulator combines the traditional advantages of Mares regulators with the latest technological innovations and exclusive design. The regulator features a first stage which stays dry with a rotating turret and a state-of-the-art second stage with a Twin Power system.
First Stage
The first stage of the Epic Adj 82X has a 360° rotating turret. The special design of the HP ports (OPD) allows the high-pressure hose and/or computer transmitter to be pre-oriented at all times, regardless of the position of the first stage, offering maximum comfort.
The 82X is a balanced membrane first stage. Thanks to this feature, it always guarantees top performance and reliability at any depth and with any supply pressure. A careful study of air flow has made it possible to optimise the internal air passages that guarantee natural DFC, obtaining high air flow on all the low pressure ports.
The AST (Auto-Sealing Technology) anti-flooding system is incorporated as standard in the 82X first stage: the system is automatically activated by air flow without any mechanical solution for maximum reliability, creating anti-flooding protection that keeps the first stage dry in all conditions.
The forging process used to make the body results in a compact, lightweight and attractive product, making the Epic Adj 82X's first stage unique. It is available with an INT or DIN connection.
Second Stage
The second stage of the Epic Adj 82X diving regulator was designed by Mares to be the absolute top of the line.
The VAD system exploits the Venturi effect by conveying 90% of the air in to a side bypass. The airflow passes through it without encountering any levers and/or mechanisms, ensuring maximum performance even in extreme situations, such as diving in cold water.
The Twin Power System allows the VAD system's air flow to be controlled, ensuring natural breathing at any depth and providing the necessary amount of air in relation to the diver's demand.
Breathing comfort is adjustable according to the diver's needs thanks to a knob which is easy to use, even with thick gloves; a feature that Mares also applies to the purge button, which is large and pivoting, for easy and immediate use.
PVD technology has been used to create this regulator. PVD is an acronym for Physical Vapor Deposition and indicates a technology used to deposit a thin metal film over various types of substrates. The process takes place in a vacuum chamber in which the metals to be deposited are evaporated. PVD coatings are particularly well-suited to innovative, advanced technical products.
Pneumatic balancing completes the list of advantages of this second stage. It is also available as an Octopus in the classic yellow colour.
Maintenance and care: Mares recommends rinsing and carefully drying the Epic Adj 82X regulator after every dive to avoid dirty and/or blue spots on the PVD surface due to limestone residue.

TECHNOLOGY
All Metal Technology
Outstanding mechanical reliability and high thermal conductivity make our metal 2nd stages extremely long lasting and ideal for cold water dives. The high thermal conductivity of metal reduces also the dry mouth feeling during the dive.DFC - Dynamic Flow Control
Minimizes intermediate pressure drop during inhalation thus maximizing gas delivery, especially under extreme conditions.ACT Valve - Advanced Coating Technology
Advanced Coating TechnologyThe new valve in the “X” systems increases durability by an astounding 600%, even under the most extreme conditions.
Twin Power
New, flow control manages the delivery rate of your gas, from natural breathing to power breathing. The former is the traditional way of breathing a Mares regulator, (VAD) while the latter (VAD+) provides an extra push when you need it.VAD - Vortex Assisted Design
The air bypass tube delivers air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in the center that keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths.Superflex Hose
Extreme light weight and exceptional softness guarantee the maximum freedom of movement.Technical specification
