The journey to the wreck itself is an interesting one as there is a line from the shore to the wreck that can be followed. The wreck is usually covered with fish and crustaceans and has many places to explore along the length. The wreck sits upright and with the wooden decks now decayed you can see right down into the hull of the ship where many animals make their home. The bottom on this dive is quite silty and good trim is needed to keep from silting out the visibility.
S.S. Empire Tana / Inner Lees
The S.S Empire Tana now lies in 2 large pieces, accessible to shore divers the part known as the Inner Lees is a fantastic dive, known for its amazing biodiversity this site in Strangford Lough is a treat. The ironwork has now started to degrade and wreck penetration is no longer advisable, however many species make this wreck their home and seals have even been known to visit the site on occasion too.
Boat diving can be organised on request for an additional fee of £50 per person per day.
