You’ve been bitten by the bug, and you’re trying to decide which specialty course comes next? Or you’ve just completed your open water qualification and would like to gain more knowledge and experience in the underwater world?
Well, the perfect answer to those questions and more is EXPLORER 30. This course is an exciting, fun program designed to increase your skills and understanding of the important core areas of diving.
EXPLORER 30 is light on academics and heavy on diving. As an EXPLORER 30 student, you’ll make five dives and have time to enjoy your journey, and to practice the skills specific to each of the five dives.
The course requires three core dives (Deep (with a Trimix option), Navigation, Buoyancy), and two electives from a list of a dozen possible options. All of these dives have been designed to expand on the knowledge and skills learned during RAID‘s Open Water 20 course. Some, buoyancy, for example, some students find helps them refine a skill that sets them divers apart and gives them a level of competence and comfort in the water that takes traditionally-trained buddies, dozens of dives to master.

How Do I Get My Certification?
Prerequisites
- The minimum age for this course is 15 years old.
- Be certified as a RAID Open Water 20 diver or equivalent
Course Structure
- A review of all your mandatory paperwork.
- Academic knowledge vital to this program, including a review of your quizzes and exam.
- A buoyancy dive to make your buoyancy even better than it already is, this will make you safer, more relaxed and give you even more controlled diving.
- A navigation dive which will teach you to be more independent, allowing you to explore new dive sites safely.
- A deep dive where you will learn and understand the procedures for planning and executing deeper dives up to 30 meters / 100 feet.
- You will then have a choice of two elective dives based on what interests you, although this may be adjusted due to dive conditions, environmental factors.
- You will gain skills to dive in a range of different environments and dive sites.
